If like us, you became obsessed with mythology and ancient classics after reading The Song of Achilles, then you’ll appreciate just how wonderful a gay cruise around Greece and Cyprus is. This one by Olivia is just for the ladies to enjoy – and we're sure they will!

Before hopping aboard the Azamara ship, you’ll get to explore the epic city of Athens. Snap pics of its ancient buildings, stony sculptures, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and Constitution Square – a full day there feels like moving through a verse in the Iliad.

And even after all that, the magic will have only just begun. In Limassol, Cyprus, you’ll wander through tight and winding streets, checking out food stalls and sampling local produce. Stop by the Grand Mosque in the Turkish quarter and the famous Limassol Castle.

Two days will be spent in Israel, swinging by Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The latter has a booming LGBTQ scene, making it the perfect pitstop for a gay cruise as fabulous as this one.

Days spent at sea are every bit as action-packed as time spent offboard. With multiple bars, cafes, and restaurants to choose from, a Cabaret, plus a pool with two hot tubs, there is never a dull moment.

What I love most about traveling is discovering the local gay scene, making new friends, learning new cultures. I've written about LGBTQ travel in numerous online publications such as Gaycation Magazine, Gaycities, Gay Times and Pink News as well as for other non-gay-specific publications including Lonely Planet, The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Huffington Post.
